Ready to learn the foundation of butterfly knife tricks?

Today, I will educate you, my viewers on what the basic tricks are, and how to do them.

If your new to balisong flipping and need a trainer, check out this post:

There will be four openers in this article, so read all the way till the end to learn the coolest one.

Style #1: Basic Style

The two combined are called the basic opener and closer.

Grasping the bite handle nearest to you, swing the blade in a backward motion.

Follow it up by swinging the blade forward and then backward, while ensuring your thumb moves aside.

Hold the same handle the entire time for all of these tricks.

Once the knife is fully opened, seize the handle nearest to you.

Hurl it towards yourself, then away from yourself.

Swing it back towards yourself once more, carefully positioning your thumb out of the way.

Style #2: Icepick

This is essentially the quick draw but done upside down.

Hold the handle closest to you, and throw it back.

When it is opened, hold the handle closest and fling it back.

Style #3: Quick Draw

Hold the closed balisong with the blade pointing downward.

Hold the handle closest to you and throw it back whilst moving your thumb out of the way.

The blade will instantly open.

To close the blade, hold the handle closest to you, and repeat the same motion.

Style #3: Fan Style

The fan style involves doing the fan flip.

Holding the bite handle, toss up the other handle, so that the main blade and the handle make a T shape.

Rotate the blade for any amount of time until the other handle points away from you and let it drop back down.

This finishes the opener.

For the closer, start the fanflip while the knife is open, and rotate the blade,

When the rotating handle points away from you, let it drop down to finish the closer.

Balisong openers are hard to get a grip on, but with practice and hard work, you'll get it eventually.

Don't ever give up and continue to relentlessly pursue mastery of this skillful art.
